My Thoughts

As with any romantic suspense novel first impressions is always important and The Watcher did not disappoint. This story is set in the same world as the previous book 72 hours, and is a standalone novel.  The prologue was enough to send shivers down my spine and got me hooked right away.

Breath in. breath out
Breathe in . breathe out.
“Marlie, I know you’re in here.”
A deranged singsong voice fills the overly quiet , making my skin prickle. I think it’s the tone that makes it worse- that chipper; no-regrets tone that tells you with one simple word just how crazy he is. It tells you the limits he’ll go to, to achieve exactly what he wants. Death. Slow and painful. Tortured.

Marlie, the protagonist, has endured a hell of an experience 7 years ago when she was tortured by a derange psychopath. She is now 7 years later trying to live life peacefully again, working as a waitress and is still recovering from the nightmares. However the torment and suffering wasn’t over yet. When her reputation has become the girl who was brave but the also the girl who took advantage of an experience and made millions, getting help from Kenai a private investigator to help look for her missing sister Kaitlyn who she believes has been taken wasn’t easy – especially when he thinks she is nothing but an gold digger and an opportunist.  Together for the sake of finding her sister they embark on a journey overcoming obstacles that have been strategically placed.

I was suddenly a survivor.
The girl who got away.
The brave one.
The one who got a second chance at life.

Kenai is definitely a strong, protective , alpha hero but someone who also has a tortured past. First impressions got both the hero and heroine at rocky start to their relationship. However, as Marlie slowly opens up to Kenai, he soon realises that everything he has accused her of , couldn’t be more further from the truth. Marlie is a female with strength, intelligence, bravery but also has innocence and is fragile – she has gone through so much physical torture that she is scarred mentally , and emotionally. Kenai picks up on this and he starts to grow unhelped feelings towards her causing the beginning of his unconditional love for her to blossom.

“ Hey,” he says voice still slightly husky from sleep.
“hey, it’s okay. It was just a dream.”
I sob harder, wrapping my knees up to my chest and hanging on tightly.
“Dammit,” he murmurs and then I feel his hard body come closer to mine before his arms go around me and pull me close.
I sob harder.
“One day, you will sleep peacefully. One day, I promise you, you won’t wake up to the horror of him.”…

I LOVE both the characters, the chemistry is AMAZING you got it all – jealousy, lust, strength ,  endurance, attraction – Wow , Bella Jewel sure knows how to create amazing lead characters and i am amazed how she still pulls out book after book with new imaginative story lines. LOVED IT , I  THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO READ IT!

My rating:
